Does India have more literary festivals than bookshops?

Here in the United States, we have an abundance of events for book lovers to enjoy. In India, there is the Jaipur Literature Festival which in 2011 topped to 60,000 attendees and at last count, perhaps 100,000 in 2012. In addition, the Jaipur Literary Festival has international appeal which raises a question (among others) in the following video from the country’s CNN-IBN’s Face The Nation shown below. For example, the argument of how much influence celebrity authors have on events like this. Also, what is the impact literary festivals have on book sales and bookstores themselves? There’s plenty food for thought here and comments are welcomed.
